Servant leaders are very different from traditional leaders since their traits and attainment of authority are quite opposite. The servant leaders obtain authority for the primary purpose to serve others and aim for collective growth instead of their performance as leaders (Eva et al., 2019). These are some of the distinguishable and unorthodox factors, which differentiate the two modes of leadership.
Another principle of servant leadership is that a servant leader would understand the big picture and would accept that it is not just ‘him.’ A broader approach would always be adopted. Responding to complex emergencies can somehow impact the principles of servant leadership as the role is limited due to a service provided to various individuals. A balancing act would then be required if emergencies are responded to since numerous emergencies would rise every day, which the leader will be obliged to address.
